Leave: Sick

Please be aware that the RU makes a difference between short and long(er) time of sick leave. This difference can have influence on your possibility of receiving an extension at the end of your PhD contract, as detailed below. More information can be found in the Collective Labour Agreement and on the RU website under ‘sickness and well-being’.

• Short time: Contact your supervisor or management assistant of the department. They will list you as sick in the BASS system. After you feel better, they can stop the sick leave in BASS. These hours are paid, and are not subtracted from your holiday hours.
• Long(er) time: At your request, your employer can (but do not have to) decide to extend your employment contract in the case of illness, if there is a continuous period of illness of at least 8 weeks. Please, make sure to check your Collective Labour Agreement.
