Educational PhD candidates, or those who wish to enhance their teaching skills, can obtain (a portion of) the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). The UTQ serves as proof of the didactic competence of educators in higher education and is recognized by 14 Dutch universities. By participating in a UTQ track, you will develop your teaching skills in areas such as designing, delivering, evaluating, and assessing high-quality education.
For PhD candidates with a 4-year contract or teaching task of < 0,2fte it is possible to obtain separate partial certificates for the competency domains Teaching Practise and Student Supervision, if your teaching tasks meet the requirements for this. These partial certificates are part of a national pilot for partial certificates in which most universities in the Netherlands participate. PhD candidates cannot follow the entire UTQ track because of their limited teaching load (except educational PhD candidates).
